Jae-Seong Lee (이재성), MD is a Korean Obstetrician and Gynecologist practising at Aegis Roen HIFU Clinic (이지스로앤) in Seoul, South Korea. He specializes in US-guided HIFU (USgHIFU) — ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound — for Uterine Fibroids and Adenomyosis.
In 2012 he delivered an invited lecture at the 98th Annual Congress of the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (대한산부인과학회, KSOG) on ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation as a new alternative for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis. In an official letter dated 26 December 2016, the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology confirmed that this topic had not previously been presented at the Society.
In the same year, Incheon Christian Hospital submitted a New Health Technology Assessment application to the Korean authorities for ultrasound-guided HIFU in uterine fibroids and adenomyosis; Jae-Seong Lee is named in that application as a cooperating specialist in obstetrics and gynecology.
In March 2015 he was invited by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) of Korea as a clinical expert advisor to its expert advisory meeting on ultrasound-guided HIFU for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, covering clinical indications and reimbursement criteria.
In December 2012 he also obtained a Korean design registration (No. 30-0674013) from the Korean Intellectual Property Office for a dedicated patient treatment chart used to record pre- and post-treatment status in HIFU practice.
This early clinical experience has continued as international peer-reviewed research on the efficacy, safety, ovarian reserve, long-term outcomes and treatment standardization of US-guided HIFU.
